A Museum of Broken Relationships (yay!)

Stop the shredding! Douse the bonfire! Those heart-breaking mementos from past relationships can now be donated to The Museum of Broken Relationships: “Los Angeles will soon [open] its very own Museum of Broken Relationships to mirror the original museum dedicated to heartbreak in Croatia.“ Although a Museum of Broken Relationships might sound a bit depressing, I see it quite differently. Reading the article linked above filled me with excitement, hope and even peace. As a years-long fan of Separation Ceremonies, I believe its necessary to acknowledge and applaud the existence of the relationship in order to heal. We can’t integrate […]

Crescent Lunge

What a Crescent Lunge Taught Me About Love

One Saturday morning in a yoga class, I rose into a crescent lunge and prepared to bend back, possibly far enough to peek at the wall behind me. “Sink into your hips, and build the pose,” my teacher instructed.  She explained how important it is to ground down in order to feel the energy rise up.  She stressed strength in the core as she told us to grow taller on the inhale and open our hearts as we exhaled.  (in yoga, as in life, “Inhale:  grow taller.  Exhale:  go deeper.)  “Don’t just jack your back,” she cautioned.  “You’ll hurt yourself.” […]

What I Learned From My Favorite Ex

When I think about My Favorite Ex, I’m reminded of the quote from Jeff Brown: “You don’t measure love in time. Love Who You Want (Unless It’s The Ex?)

My Facebook Feed turned red this week, and for good reason. I was happy to see so many of my friends show support for marriage equality by changing their avatars to various renditions of the HRC logo. Among the textual blurbs: “love is never wrong”,” anger leads to hate, hate leads to The Dark Side” and my personal favorite, “dogs don’t discriminate, neither should humans.” These are all wonderful messages, and it fills me with joy to see so much support of equal rights for all who want to get married (and, if necessary, divorced).

Guest Post: My Life, Amplified

Today I’m happy to share with you a guest post from Jolene, author of Determined To Be. I’ve been following Jolene for about three years (years?? already???)… through her singledom, job change, dating adventures, etc… Jolene is a shining example of how a divorcee can be a victor instead of victim of one’s circumstances. I’m proud to know her and I’m delighted to share her inspirational (yet totally *real*) story here (and for the record, all images are her choosing)… enjoy!
