Saturday’s Song: Is There Life Out There?

Yesterday I received a message from a reader, thanking me for the post I published on Thursday.  She recently embarked on her own marital separation and, in her reflection, she found many of the same things to be true for herself.  She also mentioned that Reba McEntire’s song, Is There Life Out There, really speaks to her these days.  I replied and said that I could fill a Divorce Mixed Tape (showing my age?) with Reba Songs (I should confess that I’m late with this post because I was listening to all the songs I’d put on that tape).

Whether you’re crying, loving or leaving, I hope you spend some time living this weekend.  Because there is, indeed, life out there

If you have a request for Saturday’s Song, email me:  tara@taraeisenhard.com, tweet me @relativevolutns or tell me on Facebook.

Reba Mcentire Is There Life Out There Lyrics

Songwriters: Susan longacre, rick giles
She married when she was twenty
She thought she was ready
Now she’s not so sure
She thought she’d done some living
Now she’s just wonderin’
What she’s living for
Now she’s feeling that there’s something moreChorus:
Is there life out there,
So much she hasn’t done?
Is there life beyond
Her family and her home?
She’s done what she should,
Should she do what she dares?
She doesn’t want to leave,
She’s just wonderin’
Is there life out there? She’s always lived for tomorrow
She’s never learned how
To live for today
Oh, she’s dyin’
To try something foolish,
Do something crazy,
Or just get away
Oh, something for herself for a changeChorus
Is there life out there,
So much she hasn’t done?
Is there life beyond
Her family and her home?
She’s done what she should,
Should she do what she dares?
She doesn’t want to leave,
She’s just wonderin’
Is there life out there? There’s a place in the sun that she’s never been
Where life is fair, and time is a friend
Would she do it the same as she did back then?
Oh, she looks out her window and wonders againIs there life out there,
So much she hasn’t done?
Is there life beyond
Her family and her home?
She’s done what she should,
Should she do what she dares?
She doesn’t want to leave,
She’s just wonderin’
Is there life out there?Oh, she doesn’t want to leave,
She’s just wonderin’
Is there life out there?

  1. I love that song it used to be one of my favorites. Divorce is so difficult and I think to get through it you need little things like a song or hearing someone else’s story to get through. A book a recently read, “Living Happier After: 20 Women Talk About Life After Divorce” by Wilma Jones has been a true inspiration to me. The women in this book speak about their mindset during and immediately following the breakup like no other book- all divorced women can really relate. Thanks again for the great posts from your blog- I have found them extremely helpful.

    • Thanks for reading and commenting… and for the book recommendation. I’ll add it to my (long) list of things to read.
