A Song For Saturday

For a few days I’ve been toying with the idea of posting a song on Saturdays… something uplifting for anyone who might be struggling through the weekend.  That was my intention today.  However, I got a little sidetracked and stumbled upon this video.  The words hit me pretty hard… the music brought back memories of riding in my mom’s Citation and listening to Kenny Rogers and Dottie West sing this song on Kenny’s Duets cassette.  I liked the song back then, but I was too young to get it.  I get it now.

So, for my first (last?? let me know what you think of this idea) Saturday Song, I chose Til I Can Make It On My Own.  The song was written by Tammy Wynette, who sang D-I-V-O-R-C-E.  The video below features Martina McBride, and the lyrics are below that.  I’m sorry this isn’t quite so uplifting, although it does offer some hope in the third verse.  I think we’ve all been there…
